The Way Home

This Month’s Film: The Way Home
Cuisine: Korean

Tomorrow is the day I have chosen to prepare my ‘Way Home’ main course, which will feature a mixed Korean grill known as bulgogi (although I’ve also seen it spelled pulkoki, pulgogi, bulgoki and several other different ways.) I will be using an assortment of marinades both savory and spicy.

As usual, I made a trip to my favorite Mexican market, thus the label in Spanish in the photo. It has a nice little old-fashioned meat department with butchers on staff, one of whom was kind enough to cut the pork ribs into bite-sized pieces. And they always have fresh shrimp at $4.99 a pound, as well as a nice variety of beef and chicken.

My shopping list was short this time, as I will be harvesting a few things from my garden for the vegetable stir-fry and I’ve got plenty of jasmine rice on hand.

Best of all, my son Will is here, and Mark Kent, an old friend from Mobile will be rolling into town around suppertime to enjoy it with us. And Rene will be joining us for a plate of leftovers when he gets off work.
