This Month’s Film: The Wedding Banquet
First of all…Happy Birthday Will! My son turns 17 today. Actually he officially turned 17 at 2:22 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time, which is 6:22 p.m. in Tokyo where he was born. And come to think of it, he was born on a Monday. So this is truly a return of the day. Best day of my life.
Now, on to Wedding Banquet business. After a weekend spent celebrating Will’s birthday with a houseful of teenagers, I finally got around to making Bananas in Coconut Milk, a very simple, and widely popular Taiwanese dessert. I love coconut milk, so this one was no stretch for me, the bananas were perfectly textured by simmering, and both were infused with the peppery spark of ginger root. A light and lovely way to end an Asian meal.
